GIMP is free software. This bitmap (partially vector) graphics editor is distributed under the GNU GPL. Such a license gives the right to use the program for any purpose (including commercial). The editor can:

• Retouch and create images
• automate the performance of multiple actions;
• convert graphics to various formats;
• use layers, masks, blending algorithms.

Using languages: Python, Ruby, Perl, C #, Java, experts and amateurs write scripts for the editor; images are generated, for example, for web pages via CGI modules.

OS support

GIMP support OS:

1. Linux: Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. The editor is included in many popular distributions, so it does not require a separate installation. However, if it is not in the workspace menu, then it is loaded from the repositories.
   2. MacOS.
   3. MS Windows. GTK + library is required, - there are international modules.
   4. FreeBSD. Included in the collection of installed packages.

Standard features

The graphic editor has over 200 extensions and additional modules. Painting tools - brush, pencil, stamp, airbrush - are adjustable in thickness, shape, visibility. Supported alpha (transparency) and RGB channels.

The text can be designed artistically. When editing animated images, separate layers are used.

The Selection tool has a free shape, the shape of an ellipse, a rectangle. There are also diffuse and reasonable discharge.

The Transform tool allows you to rotate, scale, mirror images. The number of returns (kickbacks) to the previous state of the project is unlimited.

The program has a huge number of filters, the scripts of which can be created independently in the built-in Script-Fu language.
