LG rolled-up TV will be available this year

 LG has developed a new TV, the screen of which can be rolled up, which saves space in the house. Other market leaders, including Samsung, are not yet ready to present something like this.

On Signature OLED TV R, the developers announced the announcement at CES 2019 in Las Vegas. It was there that many people learned about when the start dates for deliveries of this device were set, and its retail price was announced.

Users saw the Signature OLED TV R last year. It was shown at the CES 2018 conference. It was a prototype that LG demonstrated, only with a set of simple features. Now we are talking about a full-fledged TV, which is already ready for mass production.

When is the release date planned and what is the cost?

LG has always strived to be the first to bring to the market the new product that few people think about. That is why the new TV will be on sale as early as 2019. Unfortunately, more accurate data is not yet known.

But much more can be said about the cost of the device. If there is a desire to buy Signature OLED TV R in the first days of sales, then 10 thousand dollars will be enough. The first owners of the device, of course, will be impressed by the diagonal of the screen, which is 65 inches. Representatives of LG said that they plan to release more compact models, as well as wider, designed for large spaces.

Design

It was originally planned that the new TV model could be rolled up only manually, but the company quickly abandoned such an idea. At the prototype stage, Signature OLED TV R already had a strong foundation, in which there was not only a niche for twisting, but also a mechanism for twisting. By these parameters, it becomes clear that the TV cannot be hung on the wall but can be placed on a horizontal surface.

In less than a year, the company was able to refine the base for the TV, adding acoustics and an advanced deployment mechanism to it. For the screen to fully appear in front of the owner, just ten seconds is enough. The date is immediately displayed on the screen with time, the speakers turn on and the corresponding icons appear, allowing you to control smart home devices.

Technical specifications

The matrix of the latest OLED TV model is also produced by the company itself, the diagonal of which is 65 inches. Maritsa is located on a special polymer substrate, which gives the structure a special elasticity. The display has good resolution, so the device can play movies and videos in 4K or Ultra HD. Frames are updated at a frequency of 120 Hz, and the viewing angle is 178 degrees.

The panel with the screen lacks all kinds of connectors, but on the front of the base there is an HDMI 2.1 connector and all the necessary interfaces. It is possible to watch movies in 8K resolution, which will save users from the need to purchase a more modern TV model in the future.

The device can play various content from external drives, which can easily be connected via USB 3.0.

Fans of good sound will appreciate Dolby Atmos with a bottom power of 100 watts. But here about the number of speakers is silent. The TV runs on the latest WebOS operating system. The firmware already has a lot of different applications, as well as voice control with Google Assistant, designed for any voice commands in Russian.

For users of various Apple devices, developers have introduced AirPlay 2, which will allow you to display content from devices on the iOS operating system on the TV screen. In a subsequent system update, LG wants to add Amazon Alexa.

Availability of competitors and further development of Signature OLED TV R

To date, we can safely say that no manufacturer has yet presented such a device in its lineup. Signature OLED TV R is a design model that, thanks to its appearance, will help to complement the interior of any room and bring a lot of useful features to the life of the owners. Competitors, of course, are available. And this is primarily the TVs from the Frame series from Samsung. According to external data, they are somewhat reminiscent of a picture just hanging on the wall. In the off state, this picture shows the works of great artists. Be that as it may, the folding function of such models is absent.

Soon, LG is still going to introduce to the world a new smartphone with the same folding function as the new TV. Such a phone has already received a patent in the last months of 2018. Compared to Signature OLED TV R, a smartphone can curl in two different ways.
